It is a basic 18-8 austenitic steel grade with stabilized titanium element. this grade is prone to Intergranular corrosion attacks after heating in the carbide precipitation range of 425 deg C to 850 deg C. it offers continuous service in application temperature up to 900 deg C, with combined resistance to scaling, high strength and phase stability with resistance to aqueous corrosion.

Stainless Steel 321 Sheets and Plates have excellent welding and forming properties and readily roll formed or braked. It possesses excellent welding properties. However, post weld annealing operation is no required. SS 321 has excellent toughness even in lower temperatures.

Stainless steel 321 does not polish well, so not recommended for severe applications. After welding operation, its resistance to Intergranular corrosion gets increased. It has lower strength and so it is ideal for use in operating environments over 500 deg C.

In the annealed conditions is get superior resistance if the applications involve service in 425 deg C to 900 deg C. these sheets and plates are subjected to crevice and pitting corrosion even in warm chloride environments. It has stress corrosion cracking resistance above about 50 deg C and has a sufficient amount of resistance to potable waters contained chlorides at ambient temperatures. It has Heat and good oxidation resistance in fluctuating temperatures up to 900 deg C and continuous service up to 925 deg C.

Stainless Steel 321 Sheets and Plates perform well in the 425 deg C to 900 deg C and particularly where aqueous corrosive conditions have occurred. SS 321 sheets and plates have high hot strength and mainly apt for higher temperature structural applications.
