Stainless Steel 347H Forged Fittings are a balanced austenitic stainless steel forged fittings. It contains chromium and columbium content that takes into consideration because of end carbide precipitation and increase intergranular corrosion. These forged fittings have a higher composition of carbon that shows improved higher temperature and creeps properties.
These forged fittings have outstanding corrosion resistance properties similar to standard grades. These fittings are intended to use in chromium carbide precipitation between temperatures 427 deg C to 816 deg C. In this temperature range standard grade fittings are affected by intergranular attacks. It somewhat performs well in strong oxidizing conditions up to 816 deg C.
SS 347H forged fittings can be used in nitric solutions and most diluted organic acids at nominal temperatures in pure phosphoric acids at down temperatures.
It also opposes polythionic acid stress corrosion cracking. SS forged fittings can be used in fluoride and chloride free caustic solutions at nominal temperatures. However, these fittings do not offer good service in chloride containing environments even in small concentrations. Machining of stainless steel fittings is not tough it only requires standard feeds and speeds for machining.
DESCRIPTION
With all type of fusion and resistance welding, these forged fittings can be welded except gas welding. Forged fittings may or may not be welded by filler materials. the hot working operations are done in temperature between 1149 deg C to 1232 deg C. this material is recommended for hot working, forging or upsetting process. These forged fittings do not work above 927 deg C.
CONCLUSION
Stainless Steel 347H Forged Fittings must be water quenched or fully annealed after hot working to acquire maximum corrosion resistance. This operation also results in attaining maximum ductility. Hardening is not preferred by heat treatment operations; only cold working operations are performed to resolve this problem.
