T91 is a ferritic and martensitic grade. It has 9 % chromium and 1 % molybdenum content micro alloyed with niobium and vanadium content. Moreover, it has controlled nitrogen content as per ASTM A213 under desired national standards.
DESCRIPTION
This grade has outstanding performance, higher temperature strength and creep properties up to 580 deg C to -600 deg C. The chromium content present on it offers good corrosion and oxidation resistance than a standard grade. Importantly, it reduces the weight of piping assembly resulting in superior performance compared to other standard grades as well as allows for greater resistance to thermal failures. In elevated temperature application, it has higher heat transfer and low coefficients of thermal expansion.ASTM A213 T91 Alloy Steel Seamless Tube provides higher creep to rupture strength that is attained without by metal treatment process.
CONCLUSION
These tubes shall be either cold or hot finished products as per the end application requirements. Mainly, these tubes are cold finished. The heat treatment operations are done individually. Also, it is heated and hot formed. The ferritic grade should be reheated. The dimensions and accuracy are furnished in the heat-treated state. Immediately after the hot forming operation, it is cooled by air. It is not cooled down than the minimum solution temperature. ASTM A213 T91 Alloy Steel Seamless Tube is quenched by water or other means of cooling agent.
