These buttweld fittings have great resistance to oxidation even in the higher temperatures. It has good resistance to chloride-containing environments even in the carburizing environments. These fittings are developed for applying in the lower temperatures to higher temperatures. The composition of alloying elements makes it able to attain higher resistance in the reducing environments.
Buttweld fittings are highly resistive to corrosion in a wide range of organic and inorganic compound containing environments. This composition gives it excellent resistance to chloride ion stress corrosive environments. It also offers good service in the alkaline solutions.
It also contains chromium content that offers excellent resistance to sulfuric compounds. It serves good performance in different oxidized environments. This makes it highly resistive to oxidizing conditions. Moreover, it performs well in higher concentration environments such as higher nitric acids. Also, it has poor resistance in mild environments.
ASTM A403 WP317 BW Fittings are not affected by many alkaline solutions and neutral acids. Furthermore, it is highly utilized in caustic environments. It also serves good performance in the process environments. When ASTM A403 WP317 Buttweld Fittings are annealed it structure got non-magnetic in nature. It has excellent mechanical properties even in the adverse environments. BW fittings have combined with elevated strength and workability. These fittings are readily weldable with all standard process such as resistance welding and arc welding. However, gas welding is not preferred. Moreover, it has good forming properties which are attained by its chemical composition. BW fittings can be used in the chemical containing environments such as nitric acids, phosphoric acids, acetic acids and alkalis, and chloride environments. Also, WP 317 BW is machineable with all standard machines and equipment.
