Alloy 316/316L is the molybdenum-bearing austenitic SS. The high nickel and molybdenum content in this alloy is allowing it in demonstrating very good corrosion resistant properties than other alloys. It is having resistant ability against crevice corrosion and pitting in the chloride atmosphere. Additionally, this Stainless Steel 316/316L Alloy is providing very good tensile strength at the elevated temperature, stress-rupture, and creep-rupture properties as well as very good weldability and formability. Alloy 316L is a low carbon version of 316.
It is immune from the sensitization; therefore, it is used frequently in heavy gauge welded components. Today the alloy is found used in the application like laboratory benches & equipments, paper/pulp machinery, heat exchangers, etc.
